The Sarasota Sailing Squadron offers sailing instruction for beginning sailors with on the water training for 1 person in a 17′ O’Day Sailer or for 2 people in a 19′ Flying Scot with an instructor. The on-water instruction last for approximately 2 hours each day for 2 days. The two day schedule is arranged based on the weather and availability at the time of registration. Each student is given a printed curriculum to amplify the class content. The objective is to introduce new sailors to the water immediately emphasizing safety and good sailing techniques. The cost to Non-members of the Squadron is $200 and to members is $160. For those Squadron members who desire a 1 year of boat rental, after demonstration of boat safety and sailing proficiency, the cost of instruction is waived and the first year fee of $325 is paid. Each student must wear a PDF, life-vest, etc. and close toed shoes. Sun screen, hat, sun glasses, and water bottle are recommended. The student will start by reviewing the rigging with the instructor and be immersed in the amazing world of sailing immediately. Come join the fun.
