1. Organizing Authority
The organizing authority is the Sarasota Sailing Squadron
2. Rules
This regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
All boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of transmitting and receiving on channel 72.
All participating boats shall be equipped with lights as required by the Navigation Rules, and shall display those lights after sunset. (Battery operated lights are available from local marine stores. A portable spotlight is highly recommended)
3. Entries and Eligibility
The regatta is open to all PHRF boats.
Participants without current WFPHRF certificates will be assigned a rating. RLC ratings shall be used.
Participants must self-register on the porch. There is a fee of $5 per boat.
4. Schedule of Races
Races shall occur as specified on the Squadron Racing Calendar
The slowest monohull start time shall be 18:30h, and the slowest multihull start time shall be 19:00h.
5. Classes
There shall be 3 classes: Multihull and, for Monohull, Long Course and Short Course (competitor's choice).
Monohulls flying a spinnaker must sail in Long Course, using their RLC Spinnaker rating.
6. Race Area and the Course
Boats will race in Sarasota Bay using fixed and floating marks.
Courses will be selected from

and announced prior to the race start.

7. The Start
The start shall be at the mark designated by the course sheet - either IC13 or 'L', between the mark and a dropped buoy. Courses starting at 'L' will be selected when the direction the wind is from is between 180 and 270.
The race is Pursuit format, and each boat shall start at the time offset specified on the Course Sheet for its rating and chosen course. GPS times shall be used.
There will be no audible or visual starting signals.
8. The Finish
The finish shall be at the plane of the Ringling bridge support columns, using the ‘opening’ just to the WEST of mid-span opening (refer to mark 'RB' on this chart).
A Safety Boat will record the position of finish and finish time for each boat. If the Safety Boat is absent when a boat finishes, then she should note her finish time and record it on the registration sheet at the first available opportunity.
9. Time Limit
Boats failing to finish by 20:30h shall be scored DNF.
10. Scoring
The Low-Point Scoring System of Appendix A will apply, except no race will be excluded. One race shall constitute a regatta.
11. Prizes
Awards will be given out according to the number of registrants in each class.
12. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
