Flying Scots Wrap Up Winter Series

April 6th Race

April 6th Race

We had a super day yesterday wrapping up our winter racing season. It was a record setting day  for our fleet as we had 15 Scots on the starting line for the first time for one of our daily fleet races. We sailed out to the line in a light northerly wondering if the breeze would hold long enough to get the racing in. We didn’t have to wonder long as right at the starting time the breeze filled in and built to  a steady 15 with mixed in gusts. The star RC team of Ron and Barry sent us off on 2 good races with the crews full out hiking on the beats and enjoying good fast sailing on the runs. Joining our fleet on the course for the first time were the Curtis brothers. Welcome!! For the day Patchwork Princess took top honors with 2 wins. Second went to Eight Ball and Brave Heart charged to a third for the Day. In the Challenger division the day was ruled by Serenity. Against The Wind took second and Poco Allegro was third. Marking the end of the winter season after the racing we had a pot luck dinner with plenty of good food to go around. This group certainly knows how to cook up a fine smorgasborg.  Season awards were given out to overall and Challenger divisions. Challenger Division Season top 3 are: 1st – Against The Wind, 2nd – Snowbird, 3rd – Serenity. Overall Season top 3 are: 1st – Eight Ball, 2nd – Leprechan, 3rd – Zoom.                                                                                                                                                        Looking ahead, in 2 weeks we will be sailing in the Bird Key Regatta and then we will start sailing about every 2 weeks through the spring and summer months.

Good sailing, good food, good fellowship. Well done gang!
