On Nov. 2nd and 3rd the Florida District Series race #2 was held at Sarasota Sailing Squadron, hosted by fleet 36. 22 Flying Scots participated in the regatta. Conditions covered all ranges of flying scot racing. After waiting out a passing storm in a postponement before the first start we headed out on the bay only to have the first race abandoned when the wind quit on us. The breeze did fill in and we had 2 races in 5 to 10 mph of breeze on Saturday afternoon. Dinner at the squadron was plentiful. Sunday we were greeted with a sparkling day with winds about 15 – 18 mph. We got in 3 good races with full out hiking upwind and hair raising rides down wind. Congrats to Zeke & Jay Horowitz on a well deserved win. They were pushed in the regatta by Jeff and Amy Linton. Full results can be found at fssa.com. Thank you to Cindy Clifton and crew for a great job with the race committee and to the volunteers from the Sarasota Sailing Squadron for helping out with launching boats, manning the gate and serving food.
