Eightball Wins Flying Scot Season Series

Once again conditions were ideal for Flying Scot racing last Saturday on Sarasota bay. Thank you to Tom, Winny, & John for volunteering to RC. Eight Scots raced on the final race date of the winter/spring series in three good races. Two of the races in the 10-13.5 kt breeze were sailed on course F-I and the longer race was course FBI with a finish to windward. ┬áThe fleet keeps getting tighter with very little time elapsing between the first and last finishers. Racers were, Against the Wind, Three Sheets, Brave Heart, Ack Ack, Eightball, Serge, Zoom, & Poco Allegro. Going into the final race date there were 4 boats still in the hunt for the series championship. Serenity and Leprechaun did not compete and finished the series in 4th and 3rd respectively. Zoom and Eightball entered the day one point apart for the series lead. Eightball took two first place finishes to win the day and the series. Serge sailed to second place for the day, winning the last race and Zoom, took third for the day and clinched second for the series. It doesn’t get much tighter than having a season standings undecided until after the final race. After the races we gathered with the MC scow fleet on the pavilion to share stories food and libations. Thanks to all who brought food to share. All in all a super day and a super series. Our next three race dates are May 2, 16, 30. Great sailing gang.

  1. Nice going Pat Bren Bob. Well deserved – each Fleet 36 Sunday we came away feeling like we’d put in many shifts for the Lightning, working over the Red Wings, Bruins or someone. One-design rocks !
