A good time was had at the Labor Day Regatta with 7 Flying Scots taking part. The regatta created quite a spectacle on the bay as about 285 boats were sailing in the event. Conditions were light and shifty. Saturday we got in 3 races (W2) sharing a line using rolling starts with Windmills, MC Scows and Sunfish. After the racing Saturday, Eight Ball held a slim one point lead over Da Bomb. Sunday AM we were met with thunderstorms and no wind so the postponement flag was hoisted. When the storms passed and the breeze started to fill we headed out to race. Sadly, a steady breeze never materialized and the racing for our line was abandoned around 2:00. As we headed in the breeze finally filled so that we could get back to the docks. Shoreside activities included a band and keg beer! With no racing Sunday, the results from Saturday stood up for the final score for the regatta. Joining Eight Ball on the podium were Da Bomb, sailed by FS District Gov. Mark Taylor and 3rd place went to Patchwork Princess sailed ably by Mark’s son, Stew. Against the Wind captured mid fleet honors. Full results can be found under racing results.
