We had a very good turnout for the Sarasota Bay Cup Regatta at the Bird Key Yacht Club. 10 Scots made up the largest, most competitive fleet at the regatta. Conditions were varied from full out hiking to sheets eased, keep the speed up in the bumps and look for the next puff. The race committee sent us on 3, windward, leeward, 2 times around courses using drop marks. I do not have the full results yet but we do know that Jelly Bean was 3rd and after breaking a tie in total points, Mojito edged out Patchwork Princess for the top honors. As Lainie pointed out during the awards ceremony, the Bird Key YC has the right idea for a regatta. A few hours of racing sandwiched between 2 good parties is a darn good time.
We are starting the time of year when we will race a couple of times a month perhaps a little more informally. Our 2 May Dates are May 4th and May 18th,with starts at 1:30. Continuing into June we have June 1 and 15th. June races begin at 4:30. We are looking for RC volunteers for these dates.
