We have been fortunate so far this summer with the weather for the late afternoon racing. Yesterday was no exception. 5 Scots set out in light (5 – 8 mph) westerly breeze and raced between a couple of government marks west of the goal posts, towards the mainland using the rabbit starts. The downwind slog through the holiday weekend motorboat wake to get to the start was a little rough but once we got out of the main thoroughfare the area for sailing was good for racing in the shifty winds. Racing this week were: Sidewalk Express, Serenity, Serge, Mojito & Eightball. Short races kept the fleet very bunched. Sidewalk Express set the tone early with a win and following that up with 3 seconds took the win for the day. Eightball won the last 2 races including the final race to the dock to take 2nd. Mojito (John flying solo) won the 2nd race and sailed consistently to take 3rd. Following the racing the group met under the pavilion in the cool breeze of the gulf and shared a few snacks and stories. Summertime sailing and hanging with friends is pretty darn good time.
