This November the SSS membership will be asked to vote on changes to the current SSS Bylaws. The Bylaws Committee presented its proposal to the Board of Directors at the September 10th meeting and they approved it for inclusion on the November ballot. The revisions to the current bylaws fall into three major categories. Some are simple updates in language and references (bulletin board changed to SSS website). Others are rewrites of sections that need more detail and clarity (purpose/mission statement). There are also additions to the current bylaws such as a grievance process and an organizational chart.
Because of the many changes, the document will be posted on the Squadron website within the next week so members can review it prior to receiving their ballots. It may be tedious to read through all the information, but I encourage all voters to take the time to do just that. Much time, effort and input have gone into this project and it has involved the thoughtful suggestions of many, many SSS members, the Bylaws committee, our Advisors and our Member Review Team.
The new Bylaws document will be just one thing we’ll be asked to vote on in the upcoming election. It may seem like a lot to digest when we receive our ballots. However, it is Democracy in Action and is the biggest opportunity we have as members to shape our club in terms of its leadership, operations and governing articles. Please plan to vote and be an informed participant in the process…Thanks so much, Linda
