  • I would like to thank and congratulate the 2013 Board of Directors for their strength, wisdom and guidance. It was an amazing year for our Club’s and it’s commitment to sailing, seamanship, instruction and fellowship on site and in the community.
  • I would also like to welcome the newly seated Board Members. I look forward to the advancements you inspire and achievements you will surely bring to our unique and beloved organization.
  • Volunteer hours surpassed the 10K mark. This year will be the largest, by more than 40%, number of volunteer hours reported to the City of Sarasota. A lease measurable.
  • November brought 9 new memberships to the organization.
  • Members please note the 2014 Calendar is complete. Please check and report any errors or concerns to me.

Maintained & Maintenance

  • Dock project is on schedule and completion is in the very near future.
  • Thank you to Ron Pletsch and his band of volunteers who are making solid progress on the 19 floating docks set for replacement. More hands are welcomed and the signup sheet is in the Club House.
  • With the influx of activity the office will be focused again on usage and storage in 2013. Standing Rule 11 (a) this is a not for profit sailing club open to anyone sincerely interested in the sport of sailing. IT IS NOT AN ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE A PLACE FOR THE STORAGE OF INACTIVE SAILBOATS. Usage agreement is once a month for at least 6 months out of the year.
  • Annual Hoist inspection and dates will be posted. Looking at dates mid January.

Events & Activities

  • Thank you to John Pether, Jon Dowd, John Proctor & Alan Pressman for their efforts at the Annual Club Meeting and Elections.
  • Great times at the Drumstick Regatta, the Club Thanksgiving Dinner Commodores Cup.
  • Up this weekend is the Holiday Dinner and Parade of Boats, Plenty of reasons to spend some time at your Club in the next few weeks, Dock Ribbon Cutting & New Year’s Eve Party, Annual Hangover Regatta, Scots & Scow gatherings, Sailmonster series, One Design Race Clinic, Snowbird Regatta and the Fireside Chat & Club Chili Cook off on Jan 31st and finally the Cherry Pie Multi Hull & Club Cherry Pie race.
