A good turnout at the October 6 meeting. Several members proposed the following:
- Compensate mooring holders who have more expensive mooring gear at “actual value†(screw moorings, etc.) when “selling†their gear to the Squadron rather than the committee’s proposed $1.00 per mooring.
- Give every mooring holder a $25.00 per month discount on their monthly rental rate for the first year for selling their mooring gear to the Squadron.
- Give a higher level of compensation to mooring holders who have spent some (undetermined) amount to purchase their moorings from other mooring holders over the last few years (amounting to possibly thousands of dollars).
After two hours of discussion, all three were rejected by the majority of members who attended, and no clear consensus could be reached.
A “proforma†document which estimates costs to “self manage†the mooring field has been drafted and can be viewed here.
The next mooring committee meeting is on Tuesday November 3 at 6 PM at the Squadron. You should plan to attend if you want to have any input in the future of your mooring field.
