I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy the activities over the last couple of weeks. It was a literal “whirl wind” of goings-on, unusual weather, important events and merriment.
It started as we welcomed the appointment of the new Social Coordinator Vanessa Hamalian. She was immediately introduced to the vigorous March event calendar. And as she had done in the past Vanessa jumped right in with both feet.
Under the wonderful direction and commitment of Donna and Herb, and an outpouring of volunteer support, we hosted the 2013 FSSA Midwinter Championship Regatta, 2013 North American Sunfish Midwinters, Pot o’ Gold Regatta, Club Pot O’ Gold dinner and 2013 Sarasota One Design Midwinters back to back to back, to back… With about 170 boats participating over 2 weeks, in excess of 400 sailors, a sturdy foundation of on and off the water support and guests from around the globe; you once again provided memorable times, camaraderie and experiences for members and guest alike. Cheers to the volunteers and organizers and congratulation’s to all involved. Job well done!
As the Sun set last Sunday and we took a collective exhale I immediately took a look to the Club Calendar. So if you need a reason to reasons to visit over the next few weeks besides the weather, please join us for these great events: Friday Night Series “Kick off Party” on the 29th (with drink specials, live music & food) and the SSS Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ on the 30th at 4:30 (Kids, a bunny shared with me there may be some “cash” eggs in the mix this year).
We look forward to seeing you around the “World’s Greatest Sailing Club”.
