Florida’s Premier Summer Sailing Regatta is just around the corner. Preparations are in progress for Sarasota’s longest running sporting event the Labor Day Regatta. Year in and year out, for 68 years, our committed Member volunteers have elevate the standard for hospitality in the sailing community. If you’re not sailing we hope you will become a part of this fantastic weekend by volunteering. Thanks for all you do.
I would also like to thank Brian Clark for volunteering to over haul the BBQ. We all enjoy the BBQ and his hard work is greatly appreciated!
As we have seen summer weather conditions can transform without notice. Please wear your PFD. Statistically, nearly seventy-one (71) percent of all fatal boating accident victims drowned, and of those, almost eighty-five (85) percent were not reported as wearing a life jacket. Seven out of every ten boaters who drowned were using vessels less than 21 feet in length. As the police will tell you “Safe Boating is no Accident”.
Finally, some great gatherings over the last couple of weeks were the ever popular “Jack Attack”, the Final Friday Docktail and the Full Moon Sailabration. All serve to remind what a fantastic unique gift our Club truly is. Friday evenings with good people makes for a great time so mark your calendars the July Final Friday Docktail.
“We look forward to seeing you around the Club”.
