From the Commodore

John HuberI would like to thank the members for voting me in as your new Commodore and all of the Board members for their past and continuing service. As your new Commodore and with the help of the Board and the membership I will try to continue the long legacy of making our Club an enjoyable place to socialize and an outstanding place for your boating activities.

Whether you are a Cruiser, Racer, Kite Boarder, Paddle Boarder, Kayaker, Recreational Sailor or just like to come to the Squadron to socialize we have one common goal and that is to keep the Squadron as the best place in the World to enjoy our non-motorized water sports and make it an enjoyable social venue for everyone. We want to do all of this without losing our easy going, old Florida charm. We are very fortunate to have this unique location overlooking the Bay, the Ringling Bridge, and the City of Sarasota, all this with immediate access to Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Where else in the world could you find this combination at an affordable price?

We are recognized as an extraordinary sailing club not only in Sarasota, not only in the State of Florida, not only in the United States, but in the World.

Over the years, we have reaffirmed this with our hosting of national and international events and most recently with the F-18 Americas Championship and their desire to come back but also a request from the NACRA Organization to hold their World Championship races at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.

This my be a little of my Chamber of Commerce background but lets try to put our differences behind us and start working together and praising our club to everyone for the extraordinary organization it is.

Thank You
John Huber, Commodore
