Luffing Lassies Report, 10 Dec 2018

On November 15th  the Luffing Lassies Honored their founder Lilly Kaighin with their annual Lilly Kaighin Regatta.  Prams, Sunfish and 420″s participated. We had a beautiful start on the water with sunshine and a nice breeze to begin our first race. As the first race came to a finish a blustery, rainy front bringing gusts close to 30. No worries all sailors returned to shore safely with one race constituting a Regatta. Following the race, the Lassies shared in an Award Ceremony and Luncheon.  The Kaighin family was present and honored! Lorri Kaighin made the beautiful Awards and prepared a delicious Lunch for all to enjoy! It was a wonderful day to celebrate Lilly’s love and dedication to the Luffing Lassies.

On November 29th the Luffing lassies hosted the FWSA (Florida”s Women”s Sailing Association)Championship. Five FWSA Clubs participated, two Flying Scots and five 420’s. At the start of the first race conditions were perfect! It was a beautiful, sunny, crisp, breezy day.  Flying Scots and the 420’s had competitive starts and a challenging race! As the day progressed the challenging races continued but the breeze slowly diminished! However, three successful races were completed! An Award Ceremony and delicious Luncheon followed the races!

Luffing Lassies after a truly competitive and challenging day walked away with a First Place in the Flying Scots -Lorri Kaighin, Michelle Lee and Gillian Whatmore and Third Place in the 420″s – Lisa Ehrhart and Jennifer Means.  Lassies are the BEST!!!!
