2010 Sunfish Midwinter Championship/National Team Race

March 11-14, 2010

Sarasota Sailing Squadron, Sarasota, Florida

 

 

1.       Organizing Authority

The organizing authority is the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.

2.       Rules

This regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the ISCA Class Rules.

 

3.    Pan American Games Qualification

       This event will qualify the top two finishing nations to compete at the Pan American Games – Guadalajara    

       2011, in the Sunfish Class event. Subject to the requirements of the Qualification System as defined by the  

       Pan American Sailing Federation (PASAF).

 

4.   US Singlehanded Championship Qualification:

      This event will qualify the top finishing male and female for the 2010 US Sailing Singlehanded Championship          

      subject to the eligibility requirements defined in the Singlehanded Championship NOR.

 

5.   USSF Grant for the Sunfish World Championship

       The top US finisher who is attending the 2010 Sunfish World Championship will receive a $500 USSF Grant   

       subject to the eligibility requirements published in the Fall 2009 Windward Leg.

 

6.       Eligibility

The regatta is open to all US Sunfish Class and International Sunfish Class Members.

 

7.       Registration & Fees

       4.1 Registration is $80 per boat. All registrations received after March 5th, 2010 will be charged a $10 late fee.   

       Registration fee includes 2 dinners, 1 t-shirt, lunch Saturday, entertainment, complimentary beer and water and    

       pizza after the race Sunday.

4.2 Online Registration is available at sarasotasailingsquad.com. Extra dinner tickets and t-shirts are also available through the online registration. Registration may also be mailed with check payable to SSS to 1717 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota, FL 34236.

9.       Sailing Instructions

        Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration.

 

10.    Measurement

        The Class measurer or his representative will be on site to do measurement.

 

11.    Venue

        The regatta will be held in Sarasota Bay.

 

12.    Scoring

9.1 One race constitutes a regatta.

9.2 When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. 

13.    Prizes
Awards will be given out according to the number of registrants and to the first junior, first midget, first person of the opposite sex of the winner, first master and the first person from the region with the most sailors participating.

 

14.    Disclaimer of Liability 

       Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The  

       organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or  

       death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

15.   Charters

        Boats are available to be chartered through Tackle Shack, 800-537-6099, ask for Andy Levine.

16.   Storage
       
Boats can be stored free of charge for the regatta at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron from 3/10-3/19/2010.

      

17.   Camping

        Camping is available at no charge at the SSS.

 

18.  Hotel/Motel Information is available at www.sarasotasailingsquad.com. Ask for the regatta discount.
