The Coronavirus Outbreak
While we highly encourage individuals to continue to visit the Squadron, our management team has elected to cancel all scheduled events for the next eight weeks. Current guidance states, “Cancel gatherings of more than 10 people for organizations that serve high-risk populations.” High-risk populations include those 60 and over and individuals with impaired immune systems. Should you plan to visit the Squadron, please engage in the following preventative actions:
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water frequently.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid congregating in the bar, the office and other areas.
- When possible, conduct business with the office staff via phone or email.
The Squadron’s staff will clean frequently touched surfaces daily. For the latest information, we encourage you to visit cdc.gov. The health and well-being of our extended “family” at the squadron is dear to us. Individual sailing on beautiful Sarasota Bay is perhaps one of the healthiest activities you can do these days. However, if you elect to visit the Squadron, please exercise caution. We thank you for your support and understanding.
