This is a seasonal position at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, consisting of both part and full time work annually. The Regatta Director is responsible for planning, administering and promoting all Club Invitational Regattas. Sailing, Racing and Event Management is required. The Regatta Director is required to work closely with the Staff, Committees, Race Captain, Partners, Squadron Leaders, Volunteers and Fleets to ensure all goals of the Club are met before, during and after Invitational Regattas. The Regatta Director will be supported and challenged with the raising the level of the Invitational Sailing Events; financially and perceptually from the Club’s and competitors perspective. Preferred skills and qualifications:
Knowledgeable in sports management and event planning.
Extensive experience in sailboat racing. The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple classes and disciplines (dinghies, keel boats, fleet racing, match racing, team racing) and be an active racer and net-worker.
Experience in sailing race/regatta management.
The ability to working with both kids and adults.
Extensive experience handling all types of water vessels to include sail and power.
Computer literate in database management, word processing, and spreadsheets.
Excellent communication, planning and organizing skills
Outgoing personality, diplomatic, flexible, trustworthy, and goal oriented.
Team oriented with a clear ability to work positively with others.
